Directions

Use animal puppets, finger puppets work well: Ikea sells some great ones!

Choose one puppet. The adult takes the first turn, putting on the finger puppet and describing what it can do. For example, “my frog can jump from lilly pad to lilly pad,” “my tiger likes eating fish and chips” or “my kangaroo can jump over buses.”

Then each group member takes a turn to say what they think the puppet can do. Encourage the children to use their imagination. Use the rule that a verb can only be used once, to prevent children repeating the previous idea.

Verb pictures could be used to support children who are struggling to generate ideas.
