Directions
Use pictures or words depending on the level of the group members. Pictures of objects / items from clear semantic categories are the easiest.
Put the picture in a clear plastic pocket and use sticky tape to fix it to the back of the person’s jumper.
The person then asks the rest of the group questions. Encourage the person to begin with category questions for example “Am I something that you eat?” or “Am I an animal?” Try and demonstrate how randomly guessing does not result in useful information! A visual prompt sheet can be used to remind the group members of general useful questions.
If the person with the picture is unable to guess what the it is, the rest of the group can be encouraged to give clues. Ask the group members to think about how much information a clue should give away!
When the person has guessed correctly, a different picture is taped to the back of the next person.
This idea can be adapted to make a good ice breaker / warm up game: everyone has a picture stuck to their back at the beginning of the game, people walk around the room asking other people questions till they are able to guess what their picture is.
